Like everyone else, we have had extreme cold. We were also forcasted snow, snow, snow. Well, it happened – so to speak. Man, what a let down. Not sure who was more disappointed me or Chief. One thing for sure, they were NOT wrong about the extreme cold. brrrrr~! But here’s some pics of my sweet boy, thrilled to be in the snow. No matter how big or small, it’s still snow to him.
We couldn’t take much more of the temps, so his request for some hot chocolate was granted. “With some big marshmallows, Mommy.”
He had his hot chocolate. I had some homemade BLT soup. {bacon, leaf basil, & tomato}
With the cold temps, we’ve been staying home more. Which means the tv is on more. UGH. But I love to watch some brief minutes of morning news. Just so I feel like I am “in the know.” Anyways, I felt challenged by a news segment (still trying to find the link to share) about a woman, who STOPPED grocery shopping for 2 wks & used ONLY what she had in her kitchen. (excluding essentials) For money reasons, clean-out, organize & to stop going to the dog-done grocery store 3-4 times a week. Well, needless to say, I am feeling this challenge as well. I go to the grocery store waaaay too often. Obviously, I will still need our essentials for our Nest. (diapers, eggs, milk, bread, and maybe chocolate) but I am giving this a whirl. I must say…I’m on day 3 & surprisingly feel good about the entire thing. AND things are getting cleared out & organized. Plus, we are eating what we have. Half of my fridge has been cleaned out. It is surprising how creative this makes you cook Really.
What Graham had after his hot chocolate. Your basic ooey gooey grilled cheese. For the record, the best grilled cheese is made on a cast-iron skillet, in my book. It just makes it perfect.
Another creative meal. Thai the Nest style. 🙂 Oodles of noodles, a bag of cole slaw mix (that was about to expire) peanut sauce (I found when cleaning out the fridge) a can of water chestnuts – I have had for-EVER, some EVOO & cilantro. It was really good. I promise. I will share some more, if any other meals turn out as good.
And, since we are in the kitchen cooking, I thought I would show you this REAL-jaw-dropping kitchen re-do in Tennessee – I might add. Amazing. Her basic tool was paint. Oh, the power of paint. Her blog is Life in Grace. And guess what??? She has 8 kids!!! Again, I say AMAZING. An inspiration in every way to me.
Look at her lighting for her shelves. IKEA – $4.99!!!
Not one, but two chalkboard walls. I should say so, with 8 kids. Maybe it’s just me, but I always feel more inspired when I see REAL lived-in rooms. Don’t get me wrong, I love to look & drool over designer rooms. But re-do’s of real lived-in rooms, makes me feel warm & fuzzy all over. Which is a good thing in these temps! 🙂
P.S. Do you think I’ve been a little trigger happy with the camera? My very favorite old cashmere gloves, just couldn’t hang. 🙁
Stay warm!
