Funny, huh? ME – doing a post on updating your blog. I hate techy stuff! But, I have learned a few tricks, either from other blogs or web sources that I now refer to as my “support group.” 🙂 And felt I should pass the info along. Because what good is your knowledge if you don’t share with others!!! Right???
First, let’s start with the NEW BLOGGER UPDATE.
Do you want much LARGER or X-LARGE pics??? Then this is for you!
Have you updated yet? What are you waiting for??? DO IT! Here’s how:
If you use Blogger – in your upper left hand corner go to SETTINGS
Scroll down to GLOBAL SETTINGS
Click on UPDATED EDITOR
Then hit SAVE at the bottom. See image above for visual reference. That is it. EASY!!!!
This will give you much larger picture options.
AND, you can highlight your text (like I did above,) strike-through (like this) or upload several pics @ a time & select where you want them to go in your post with such ease.
And for the record…pretty please make your pictures as big as possible! It amazes me (especially on craft/D.I.Y. blogs) that bloggers go through all the work to make or improve something & show it off in the smallest picture option. Show us what you’ve got!!! Seriously. We want to see it in the biggest way possible.
~ My blogging friend & a much more experience blogger then I am – Beth from Stories from A 2 Z, said it best, “Please, please, please make your pics large! I beg you. I read everything on my tiny Mac notebook and I need your pics to be large to really enjoy them. Do it. I’ll be so grateful you did.” Click here to read the rest of Beth’s post about the Updated Editor.~
Now, let’s talk about those big pictures.
Again, Beth & I have a favorite spot for fine-tuning our pictures. AND most of it is FREE!!!
PICNIK.COM = oh how I Love Picnik. Here are some fun examples of what Picnik can do:
You can upload a picture like this: (going through the archives for some pointers here 😉
and make it look like this below.
>>>This was my profile pic for FACE BOOK the month of October.<<< Just for laughs. But, an example of what you can do for FREE! I especially love their zoom in & touch-up options.
Here’s another example of a before:
And, an after. Makes it a little more rustic & fun with just the red wheel in color. Don’t cha think?
And finally, this one I did for family a while back (obviously) – many fonts styles, color, & great placement options are all available via Picnik.com
For a fee of $25.00 a year – you can get their premium package. Which I have done. I don’t have photoshop. Right now, the $ for photoshop is too much for us, maybe one day. But for now, I love PICNIK.com!!!
Now, after all of this ~ I do have a few grunts/complaints about the Update Editor for Blogger. The updated editor does NOT have spell check as an option. This has to be one of the biggest overlooks in a websites’ history. Wouldn’t you say??? I, as you know am a horrible speller. Or I type something when I meant to type or say something entirely different.
But I have a solution. Well, not me. Another blog that I adore has graciously written a post about downloading ieSpell & she explains how it will spell check your draft posts for your blog & even your Face Book comments or status updates! All in one. How awesome is that? So even if you don’t have a blog, but are on Face Book – this too, is for you!
Donna at Funky Junks Interiors will walk you through downloading iespell with ease. Much better then I could ever. I promise. If I can do it – anybody can! Once you have downloaded the program, write your post – then RIGHT click & iespell will show up as an option in your little box when you right click. EASY!!!
I have a few other things to share about updating your blog or format. Next week, I’ll walk you through how to widen your blog format so there isn’t so much wasted space on the right & left side among a few other tricks I’ve learned. If you are interested.
Hope this was informative for some of you. I know I tend to be too “wordy” with my posts, so hope this wasn’t too long or boring. Let me know what you think – or have a suggestion for ME! What you want to see more of – or less of. I am always open to constructive criticism. Honest. I feel I learn more, when given polite criticism. So feel free to comment. Would love to hear if this helped anyone, as well!
Hello! I’m so glad you’re here & reading my posts! I’ve started truncating my posts, so please click over to read the rest of the story!
