When Chief said, “Let’s veg out & rest for a few days” he didn’t have tell me twice. Especially for a request like this. We both have a sinus infection, his much worse then mine. Drilling & cutting into an almost 100 y.o. wall to repair it, just didn’t seem logical, with every dust particle flying in the air. So veg, chill, rest, & unplug is what we have done for the last few days. And dare I say, it has been wonderful. For the record…I wouldn’t be able to do this for a long period of time, I would miss blogland too much. But doing basic everyday things that we don’t usually get to do has been so enjoyable.
.
We actually read the Sunday paper. I was able to get lost in some favorite magazines – on the couch no less. Of course, still being the drink/sippy cup holder mom that I usually am. We got to catch up on 2 of our favorite tv shows. Eat chips & dips. Make some classic meal favorites & create some new dishes. In case you’re new around here, I would say a favorite of mine when time & the kids allow is to whip up something in the kitchen.
We have had brunch type meals for the past 2 mornings & it has been such a treat. *pic above is one of my favorites…seseame seed bagel w/ cream cheese, avocado slices & lemon paper.* yes, it’s a California favorite of mine. I rarely have it. But it is my $1.49 escape & I love the mind set it gives me.*
And if this *unplug mode* couldn’t have gotten any better…these 2 finally decided to give us 3 nights in a row without either one waking up. Shh. Don’t tell them we are happy with this recent turn of events. We wouldn’t want them to know. As I know almost all of you can relate to this, either you are currently in this situation of young children or you have already gone through this with yours. But I know, you can go back to that very night when sleep got a little longer during the night. That feeling when you awoke from either a couple of hours more or actually you were able to sleep through the night. That feeling of joy, comfort, & a thought similar to this coming to mind…“shut up – did I really just have the first solid night of sleep in 2 years???” I felt like I was dreaming the past 3 mornings. There are no words to describe that feeling. I am not even going to try it, because I know, you all know that feeling. Pure bliss.
So, we are keeping our fingers crossed for night number #4 over here. The “unplug” mode was exactly what we needed, I honestly think we should do this once a month. It was great. But as you all know by now, I can’t stay away too long from blogland. I love it way too much. And omg! I will have to post a few of the recipes we tried – they were so stickin’ good. See you then…
