I’m the lucky daughter to an amazing Mom. She is my inspiration when it comes to everything.
In every room of my house there are gorgeous examples of her talent. Whether it is something she has made, sewn, upholstered, framed, built, or crafted. She comes to my house with tools in one arm, something homemade to eat in the other & treats for the kids in a bag on her shoulder. I know & feel her love constantly throughout the day, even when she lives hours away.
Her early life is a true witness of what God can do. Before I was ever born or even thought of she had some of the hardest challenges in life already come her way. But she overcame or leaned on the Lord to pull her through. She loves the Lord with all her heart and loves her family with all that’s in her.
She can build furniture, she can bake & decorate a gorgeous wedding cake, she can build anything with brick, make a seed turn into the most gorgeous blooming flower, find exactly what you need at any given yard sale for mere cents, & whip up the best meal you ever did eat. That’s my MOM.
She can also totally mortify you when in high school & drive with our station wagon dragging the ground because it is loaded down with brick for a new project. If you are her daughter you are by far the best cake holder there ever was, especially around corners doing 50mph. Because she wanted to do one.last.thing. before leaving & she is running late getting the 5-tiered cake to church. If you were her daughter you would have more hand sewn clothes then store bought in your closet growing up. She can also pull off the sweetest surprise sweet 16 birthday party for you. Or be there for weeks after the births of her grandchildren doing whatever necessary to help, hold, or calm a new mother’s fears down.
I jokingly tell my Mom, “MOM! I am turning into you!” But in reality that would be the best thing that could ever happen to me.
I love you, Mom. It is a privilege to be your daughter.
