To say that I am naturally drawn to re purposing objects is an understatement. I love seeing how creative people can be in their mind & decorating skills to re purpose something. You can see re purposing everywhere now. Maybe for money issues, or perhaps people just like to recycle, or for the pleasure of finding true treasure from yard/estate sales. No matter what the reason, I love a room with some re purposing. Which leads me to the reason for gathering & writing this post. You see ~ in a month and a half the GRAND POOBAH of all yard sales is happening.
The 4 state 600+ miles of never ending yard sales via the Hwy 127 ENDLESS YARD SALE.
Below is a picture of us at the yard sale – last year. Here’s the post & my findings.
The twins & I went for only a day last year. They did fabulous. But this year, Chief has agreed to keep them so I can do a 2 day trip or maybe even 3. 😉 Let’s just say, there are endless options of re purposing at The Endless Yard Sale all one has to do is be willing to search & sweat it out. Because it is mighty hot around these parts in August!
{on a major side note ~ if you only knew what has transpired in these past few days for a little competition/contest that i happened to enter with hgtv & the endless yard sale…but i had to face the facts that i simply couldn’t do such a big commitment, & TRY to withdraw the competitiveness in me, oh well. i’ve been a little down in the dumps having to withdraw, but there’s always next year! ok, that’s the end of my major side note, back to repurposing…}
I used to love a *fixed* room. Where everything was matchey/matchey. Now thankfully – I am completely opposite. I would much rather have unique one of a kind things, whimsy, vintage, or anything re purposed in any & all my rooms. Which leads me to some of the inspirational photos I’ve been gathering for the past few weeks ~
countless ways to use those treasured blue mason jars. I *heart* blue mason jars!
Knobs. Trinkets. Drawer pulls. love the way they attached those to the chairs. don’t you?
photo source unknown (stored way too long to remember, sorry)
An old schoolhouse chalkboard. I would love to find an old green one. = delish!
Old school lockers or locker bins! Lisa, a blogging friend has a house FULL of re purposed objects. She, her life, & her house are just fascinating to me. Not to mention she is a true & real person. I so enjoy her posts & her writing. She is a beautiful person inside & out.
Here’s more of Lisa’s house, like her re-painted piano that I talked about before or look how she used an old large frame to showcase her collection of clocks! Just Dreamy.
Or what about a robe & a tennis ball to create a doorstop & paperweight! Insanely cute & clever.
Old retro mailboxes for storage along the wall? Love it as a collection!
Look at how beautiful the suitcase table is! Only Ms. Songbird could make chicken wire look so gorgeous – Homemade Wire Cloche. She is a true re purpose gal! Everything she touches turns to gold & I do believe her heart must be gold as well. Because she creates such beauty.
Here’s another use for an old frame = a ceiling medallion along with music sheets. I think I like this idea a lot.
One day, I hope to re purpose a dresser in our upstairs bathroom. Love this look.
Many friends of mine, including myself love this look of an old mantel re purposed as a headboard. brilliant!
An old chicken house turned into a huge magazine storage unit. Brilliant & I so need this!
Okay ~ now that I have you thinking of re purposing, I thought I would go ahead & include this map to show you where the ENDLESS YARD SALE takes place. I hear this year it will also be going through parts of Michigan as well!!! It’s crazy, hot, fun, thrilling, thrifting at it’s best. Check it out. Maybe it’s coming close to you!
So….who’s going? Or who’s up for a road trip????

I so wish I had found your blog before the 127 Sales! My sister and I drove 10 hours through the night just so we wouldn’t lose any precious yardsaling time. Maybe we passed you along the way!
