So excited & nervous {Eeeek!} to show everyone part 3 of my project So My Walls Can Talk. Part 3 has been in the making for 2+ years. I can’t believe it’s finally done. I realize that subway art has taken off all over. But this was designed “in my head” before subway art exploded. There maybe many of you who think I’m nuts for displaying my oldest First Words, & that’s ok. But at least for now, in this point of my life, there isn’t much sweeter words then the first words & first sentences of your own little one(s).
Ok. with that said, just so you can see this series in progress~
Here is part 1 of the series:
The Chalkboard Wall. You can see the making of it, by clicking here.
And click here for Part 2 The Gallery Wall.
Now here is Part 3~
I found this cabinet door on the curb, 3 years ago. It has sat in our basement for 3 years.
I love the hardware & the barn look of the door. It obviously needed some TLC.
After fresh paint, I started playing with the layout of his first words. Once again, my dear friend Susan Lucci & her saint of a Mom helped me with their Cricut machine & did the letters for me. 3 TIMES! I lost the first set (remember this has been in the works 2+ years) and we just had to play around with the sizes, since my cabinet door was such an odd shape.
Here’s the finished result. ….Gulp….
(I’m sure you have all seen Pottery Barn’s subway art framed in their gallery wall.)
Well, (gulp, again) here’s mine………………………
I already have the 2 doors that I will use for the twins’ first words. *Trust me* they are talking, jibber jabber-ing their way along, but I want to be sure & have the most used words for their doors. They will be coming soon.
Just for fun, here’s another pic of the chalkboard wall. We have spent many a hours in front of this wall!
I get alot of questions about this chalkboard wall.
Is it messy?
Do the kids still use it?
How do you clean it, etc.
I rarely give them colored chalk. Colored chalk is more messy then plain chalk. I found a LARGE eraser at thrift store & I use plain water on a rag to get it back to a “true” chalk black color.
YES my kids still use it & love it. Both my husband & I think it’s one of the best things we have done to this house as far as decorating goes. We LOVE it!
So what do you think? Have I lost it?
All I know is this entire hallway makes me so happy!
I can’t wait to show you the next part! (It’s not the twins’ first words, either.)
Part 4 coming soon! Eeeeek!
