Now on with the Festival!!!
I know many of you have been to fairs and or festivals’ exhibits where they feature quilts, right?
Have I ever mentioned that I married into a family of quilters??? As in,
Fair, Fall Festival Blue Ribbon winners of quilters??? Yep, I did.
We have many quilts in our home. Many.
unknown source
Most are in great condition, others we wouldn’t dare use just for the memory sake & heirloom value of it.
But that doesn’t mean we can’t display them for the art that they truly are…
So, here we go again with an old frame. A $10.99 frame at our local thrift store:
Here’s the front:
But I was more interested in the back of the frame:
I needed a solid piece so I could attach a quilt & wrap the ends around the frame using upholstery tacks & stripping boards so I wouldn’t damage the quilt.
Which gave us:
Our framed treasured flour sack quilt.
You see, every piece of fabric on this quilt is from flour sacks. One that was made by hand (EVERY stitch) by my husband’s aunt. This particular quilt is a lap quilt. Of course we never used it. But I got the idea from my friend Sarah to hang it over our bed.
So we could see it everyday & feel the love & labor that went into making this work of art.
Just so you could appreciate it a little more, I thought I would also share the chairs his aunt sat in to make this quilt years & years ago.
I figured the best compliment to this flour sack quilt is to make flour sack *like* pillows. Plus, I think this looks alot more Fall-like then the pink ones I had for Spring & Summer.
Don’t you think???
Okay, now it’s time to link up!
Don’t forget about the GIVEAWAY & leave a separate comment for every activity that you choose to do!
