If you’re liking the trophy look like me – then you must RUN, not walk to
TARGET!
These little faux plastic trophies are in the dollar bins, right when you walk in the door.
Now, obviously they aren’t the real deal, nor would I ever pretend that they are, but gosh darn it – I keep losing on Ebay or have to stop because the bidding is too rich for my blood. I also look for them at thrift stores, but always strike out. So when I saw them, I knew I would have to give them a try.
The main thing you need to have is the Looking Glass Mirror Spray. In my opinion, every crafter/DIY-er should have this stuff. I love it.
I decided I would spray the Mirror Paint very lightly, then use just a few taps of black spray paint to add more of a tarnished look. I had the water bottle close by, just in case I sprayed too much black. You need to be extremely light on the trigger when using the black.
Here’s a pic below of 1 light coat of Mirror spray all over & just a few taps of black.
I applied a second coat using the same process as the first = one light coat of the mirror spray & a few taps of black.
Then I was done.
Not too shabby for $2.50 + a little on-hand spray paint.
I wasn’t sure which result I would like the best, between the original gold & the silver. Turns out I like them both just as much as the other.
Oh…one more thing…they DO hold water!
So, who’s going to Target?
Who likes the trophy look in their decor?
Yay or Nay?

So cute, I have been trying tostay away from Target so I don’t spend money. But now I will be RUNNING there today. It will be all your fault if I go over my budget this month, haha. Thank you for once again being my creative muse.

Loving this! I’m so glad I have to drive for an hour to get to Target. It keeps me out of trouble.
Now you need to use your wonderful Silhouette machine to cut out something fun for the base of your trophy! Lisa~

I have a collection of tiny vintage trophies (the real deal), but it started off with a “transformation” about 2 years ago of a trophy just like yours!
I used the craft store kit that “rusts” surfaces to rust up the cup on the trophy. This stuff is amazing….REAL rust in just a few minutes. Now it has a well-loved look that fits in with the rest of my collection.
I like your idea….I will store that away! 🙂
