Before we get started you should know that this room has taken me forever to do…and I’m still not done. I am not one of those fast DIY home bloggers that can do amazing things on any given day. It takes me months, I tell you. Months…
It’s probably also worth mentioning that this is a shared bedroom by two boys who are at the time of this post 4 & 7. Both have similar interests & then not so much. This bedroom will be a juxtaposition of everything they love. WOODY! Animals, Cowboys & Indians, Space, Astronauts, Cars, Star Wars & art. So basically all sorts of toys piled into one room. 😉
What makes me rather excited about the whole thing is that I can intertwine feathers, arrows & some tribal design into the bedroom & they’ll love it just about as much as I will! About a month or so ago Beth wrote a post about how Arrows are trending in design & she featured this post from Thompson Family Life . I already knew I wanted to have a tribal vibe in the boys’ room, but when I saw her arrows, I knew I would have to recreate them! I basically followed her directions, of course using my own color story for the boys’ room & I decided to use recycled cardboard for my arrows. You’ll need about 3 coats on the cardboard for the arrow tips to get a good color built up. But everything else is super easy & so fun to make!
I used hot glue & some washi tape to hold the feathers in place & placed the arrow tip on with hot glue as well.
I didn’t even realize that I would have a good theme going on, on this wall when I bought everything at random, several months apart.
The 6 feathers in the print above represent the 6 brave teachers that lost their lives at Sandy Hook. Brickyard Buffalo was having a fundraiser for the Sandy Hook kids & I purchase 3 prints from various artists.
The print is called “remember” ~ I thought it was beautiful how the feathers gradually fade away. And it goes perfectly on the boys’ feather & arrow wall.
We’ve come a long ways from where we started in this room, but I have tons more I would like to do in here. Hoping I can tackle some more ideas on my list – soon!
