First off, if you’re like me I’m always wearing white when I’m making Spaghetti. So go ahead & change shirts before getting splattered by some sauce. 😉
I’m not really sure what it is, but there’s something about serving Spaghetti to my family that I love. It’s probably our favorite meal, to tell the truth, and my favorite way to eat & serve it is doing it a semi-homemade style. Please know this is not a sponsored post, this is just a true, honest to goodness (and boy, is it good!) recipe that I use all the time. In particular, on Wednesday nights when Survivor is on. Yes, it’s still our favorite show. My husband & I started dating when it first aired & we’ve been die hard fans ever since then. So yes, I make a semi-homemade Spaghetti dinner, help the kids with their homework & have everything done by the time Survivor comes on. We have our priorities, ya know.
This is a delicious blend of a creamy Alfredo sauce mixed together with a sweet red marinara basil sauce. The beauty of this recipe is that it is a semi-homemade version, that can be made very easily with not a lot of time involved.
Ingredients
- 1 jar of Sweet Basil Classico Spaghetti Sauce
- 1 jar of Roasted Red Pepper Alfredo Classico Sauce
- 1 lb of cooked, ground Italian Sausage - I use mild sausage
- 3-4 leaves of fresh chopped basil or 3-4 Tablespoons of Pesto
- 1/4 cup of cream (half & half - whatever you have on hand)
- 1 cup of shredded Parmesan Reggiano Cheese (save some for garnish - if desired)
Instructions
- In a large skillet cook & saute your Italian Sausage. Drain the excess out of the pan.
- Pour both jars of Spaghetti & Alfredo sauce in the same pan, stir & simmer.
- Add your cream & stir.
- Then add your cup of shredded Parmesan cheese & blend in.
- Add your fresh basil or pesto and mix together.
- Reduce your heat & allow your sauce to simmer together for about 30 minutes (if you have time, even longer) but it can always be brought to a boil & served immediately.
*You probably will have some sauce leftover* during the Fall & Winter, I always love to use the extra sauce over squash or zucchini for lunch or even another dinner.
The beauty of this sauce is the creamy Alfredo base mixed together with a Sweet Basil Marinara. Sure, homemade Spaghetti sauce might be the best, but for convenience & quality this is a close runner up. Plus it’s so easy & the Italian Sausage flavor added in makes it taste even more authentic. You can substitute the meat for Turkey, Hamburger or none at all, depending upon your preference. We’ve had it every way possible, but our personal favorite is with the Italian Sausage.
If you’re a busy family you’ll love the flavor & the convenience of this sauce.
It’s delizioso!
