I can’t believe we are at this point.
You know the part of where all your planning & dreaming starts to really happen.
The part of carrying around fabric samples in your purse right next to your lipstick and phone. Because you’ve been Blue Velvet Sofa Dreaming…
All 3 treasured objects (my fabrics samples, lipstick and phone) are in the zipper pocket of my purse. You know the one where you keep things you don’t want to lose in the bottom of your purse. Because you want to be able to pull the fabric samples out while searching for the perfect pillow combinations.
You see, for the past several months my purse has been filled with certain size screws, bolts, a list of things to get at the hardware store and so forth. I thought I would never reach the point of searching for fabrics and home accessories. But here we are, about 6 months later after we purchased our foreclosure with the first post about actually picking out a major piece of furniture for our #newoldmtnhome.
As I do with most things, I’ve had a vision of a particular style and COLOR for our new home. I’ve been gathering photos on pinterest, magazines and everywhere else to help me visualize our room. Finding a Blue Velvet Sofa has been a dream of mine from the very beginning. I happen to love blue velvet sofas. I mean it stops me dead in my tracks when I see one anywhere.
To quote Jonathan Louis’ phrase: Dreams happen. Make room.
I couldn’t agree more.
Always make room for your dreams, my friends!
Below is a mood board I put together. It’s mainly about the fundamental {eclectic} elements we already have in the room and what we will always have to work with, and the sectional we have picked out from Macy’s.
Meet the color TEAL. I positively love it. It’s the perfect mixed of blue with a touch of deep green, it’s everything I’ve been dreaming of and more. And to quote Jonathan Louis (the manufacturer of this sofa) Dream happen. Make room.
And obviously I need some pops of color in this room, don’t you think?

I have been collecting/pinning/saving – hoarding(!!!) photos of blue velvet sofas for a while now. After realizing that Jonathan Louis made such great sofas for Macy’s I knew I could find a mix of the style, color and texture I had been dreaming of. Their modular sectionals can be made into almost any configuration. You can see many of the styles and colors of Jonathan Louis sofas by visiting Macy’s both online or in various stores across the country. Each of the Macy’s stores that carries the furniture will have fabric swatches for you to pick from and of course various styles for you to sit on and try.
We personally are going with the HARPER modular sectional. This can be found at any of the Macy’s stores that carries their furniture.
Of course, I wanted a TUFTED sofa, but my husband is not a fan. We found the HARPER to be a great compromise, but most importantly we fell in love with this one because of the comfort! It’s so dreamy to sit in! Obviously comfort is a matter of opinion, but that was the bottom line in picking this style out, and the fact that my husband didn’t want his rear end sitting on any buttons. – MEN!!! 😉
Can you imagine this sectional in the TEAL color sample? Here it is again just in case you want another peek:
It’s so delicious! And I truly feel it will give the POP of color to the room but will also flow nicely with the elements that are already in the room. Can’t wait to see it all together soon!!!
Be sure to check back in a few weeks to see the big reveal!
