Patriotic Planters Decorating Tip

There’s something about displaying the flag that makes me a proud{er} American.  I love this time of year, and in particular the 2 Summer holidays that are focused on America, our military and the good ‘ole red white & blue.  Every year, I look forward to placing my flags outside, but I thought I would quickly share my patriotic planters decorating tip with all of you.

But truth be told, I felt like my flags were getting lost in my planters boxes.  Of course, it depends on how big your planter boxes are, my are from here and they are the self watering kind of planters.  I absolutely love them.  But I wanted my flags to really stand out!  So I figured out a way to extend the height and make them a little more durable to stand up to a good Summer thunderstorm here in the South.  Because they can happen any day – any time.

This is truly the simplest tip.

And I honestly thought, should I even bother sharing it?

But if any of you are like me (which I know some of you are!!!) – you display the grand old flag around your homes during the Summertime as well.  And you may just want to know my simple tip.

First off, I purchased my flags at our Family Dollar Store, but I’ve seen them everywhere for around .99 cents.  They have held up to all the weather, heat, sun and rain and have done so well.

My flags pictured below are actually 3 years old, but still look good as new.

If you have an ACE HARDWARE store or a local hardware store that gives out free yard sticks to their customers – grab yourself one or two & some packaging tape!

It’s so simple, but really extends the height and also secures them inside the planters so they’ll stay in place if bad weather is around.

The other nice thing is that the yard sticks are super thin and will not take up a lot of room and go deep down inside a large planter box.

Simple trick, right?

Should I have even bothered with this info in a blog post?

Only you can be the judge of that, but I promise it will make such a difference and give a bigger impact for your patriotic planters this Summer.

As long as you secure them tightly with the packaging tape, you’ll be good to go this Summer.

It’s the easiest tip that makes such a difference.
