Chevron Flower Pots + beauty shop makeovers

Hello lovelies!
Happy Spring.  I’m sure most of you are starting to get the planting itch.  If you’re like me, it’s one of the things I’ve been day dreaming about these past few days.
Well, as you can see ~ I’ve been a little busy.
Not only do I have a little dirt underneath my fingernails, but I also have some spray paint too.
Like most of you, I have some old pots around here.  Just a few you know.  (ahem)   Mainly they were terracotta pots.  Lately, I’ve been wanting to get rid of my terracotta pots.  The color, really doesn’t match anything on the exterior of my house.  So I went to our local nursery for some inspiration.  Have you seen the price of fun colored glazed pottery?  Geez.  It’s too much when you want to get 3,4, or even 5 new pots.
So I took my pots to the beauty shop.  As in I sat them in some newspaper & got out a can or two of spray paint.  I don’t think I need to tell you all about the power of a little paint here & there.  A few slaps (sprays) on…immediately takes on a whole new world of looks.  It’s instant gratification.  I love it when that happens.  Kinda like when you get a new “do” at the beauty shop.
I gave makeovers to several items.  Some were so outdated.  I do believe, they must of had the 80’s look going on.  But I brought them all to the year 2012.  You know, the year of chevron.  🙂
I’m calling it chevron at least.  I used the jumbo size ric rac at Hobby Lobby.  They have several choices of colors.  And let’s just say ~ this gal isn’t crazy enough to actually paint chevron on a pot.  Can you imagine?  Gah!  That would be crazy.
So…this jumbo ric rac, I think gives a chevron look for easy & fast results!
Just hot glue it & you’re done.
I’m a huge fan of projects I can come back to, stop & start.
So I sprayed about 3 coats.
Hot glued my trim & I’m calling them done.
It’s that easy.

FYI~ all of it was Krylon high gloss.  Amen & Amen.  Love that stuff!

This above is my Spring Mantel.  I somehow missed spray painting the owl’s tail feathers back in the Fall, so I gave him a little touch up.  The flower pot & bunny were at one time terracotta color.  It all looks streamlined now.  One color to unite little pieces.

I’m loving this little guy the most.  The color combo & that Gnome.  Oh dear heavens~a super beauty shop makeover, if I do say so myself.
Simple.
Easy.
Fast
&
Cheap.
My kind of makeover!  I plan on doing my bigger planter pots next week.  So excited.

I’m really hoping the Gnome fairies don’t come after me.  I love Gnomes.  I just wanted one spray painted white.  Just one, I promise.  😉

  3. I’ve always been a big fan of ric rac – even when my mom used it to trim out our little handmade clothes when I was a child in the 60’s. I don’t think it ever went out of style for me, but I had never thought of using it on spray-painted flower pots! Cute!!!

  19. I love the the painted pots, but I think I fell in love with that made-over little gnome the most! 🙂 I saw solid color painted elves at the West Elm store during Christmastime, and this gnome looks like it could be on their store shelves too!
